A Recipe for Success
Success in using the World Wide Web to tell your story, sell your service or peddle your product depends on a these key factors. Directions: Mix generous portions of the following ingredients together with your story or product to create your own special flavour of success!

Make each visit worthwhile
- .. for the visitor that is. If the visit is worthwhile to the visitor, it will be worthwhile to you. The visit must be a good experience. A fruitful experience. Whenever anyone uses the World Wide Web, they are seeking something. How can you make the visit worthwhile? Give them what they are seeking! Entertain the visitor who is looking for entertainment .. inform the visitor that seeks enlightenment .. determine what it is that your target visitors want to find, and pave a highway to it .. right on your site.
Be accessible
- To be successful, you site will need to attract visitors. In fact, you will have to lead them there from anyplace they might be. Have your site listed on as many of the Web search databases as you can; announce your site in any appropriate newsgroup that will accept advertising; find sites that complement your own, see if you can have a link to your site listed there. Mention your Web "URL" on your stationary and in your traditional advertising. Make your Web site as well publicized and as accessible as possible.
Note: be careful when advertising in the newsgroups or you risk the ire of millions of people Be certain that advertising is explicitly permitted in the newsgroup, and that mentioning your Web page is "on topic" for the newsgroup.
Constant renewal
- Do not let the information on your Web pages become outdated or stale. The Web is a vibrant, dynamic entity. Be a part of it. Offer new articles of interest from time to time. Make sure any links you mention on your site are valid. Keep all information current. By the "instantaneous" nature of the Web itself, people expect the information they find there to be relevant and timely. This very challenge can be a huge advantage to you. Make use of it. Use your site to keep people informed of happenings, developments and news in your organization or field of specialization. Consider this: no other medium offers you the flexibility to make changes as quickly and easily as the does the Web.
Get immediate feedback/provide prompt responses
- Offer a way for your Web visitors to contact you immediately. Use "mailto:" links on your pages to give them a way to contact you by e-mail. Use a fill-in form to make it simple to place orders or ask for information. Again, the nature of the Internet is one of near instantaneous communications. Therefore, when a visitor leaves you an order, a request for information or an e-mail, act on it quickly. Most visitors will be expecting a response in a day or two. Don't disappoint them. Show them your interest and superb service by replying quickly and in a personal fashion.
